Definition and function BRIDGE

BRIDGE is a tool that can connect a LAN to LAN to another, if both use the same technology, for example with ethernet technology. Bridge work at the level of the data link layer in the OSI network model. therefore, Bridge can connect networks that use a transmission method or a different medium acces control.

The function of the Bridge are:

Can separate a data packet to be transmitted on its own network or on another network, if the network is connected. Bridge can function as a router on a wider network. It is called by the term brouter (bridge-router).
